Since my earliest memory I have seen one life, now in all of human history, radiantly joyful life. Only one. Jesus and in the last several decades that I've devoted myself to his example and teach ing, I have it too.

In every interaction we had... since 2 days ago on the phone. By the time you made this comment today I had been at their store for about 4 hours while work was being done on the wheel.

That's where the joy is, I replied.

I still don't understand why he made the comment but I can tell it came from someplace very deep.

This is a very rich people's ebike store, a large and thriving shop, and they're the only place in Billings that could cut spokes. Many shops like this including this one avoid touching anything that they haven't sold in part or entirely for fear of liability issues.

I couldn't believe that under the circumstances they wouldn't at least cut spokes for me. There couldn't be any liability in that I thought. And on the 3rd or 4th call the nice young salesman that was following orders and screening the shop from me, got this shop manager on the phone, and instantly he got it, and instantly he was going to make it happen.

Like I say this is a corporate shop for rich people and I don't fit the bill. Four or five of the employees just could not have been more courteous and really seemed to be glad, even somehow honored, that I had stopped there.

Jesus lived and died completely alone. I I guess it couldn't have been any different for me.

 I must face that Christianity may be a conspiracy. I must admit that it is cowardly of me to not face it more squarely. It is Well documented that in seminary so-called people of the cloth are taught the actual history of Jesus, what he said, what he didn't say. And then they never speak that truth to their congregations. If the truth of Jesus were told instead of obscured, there would be no church, there would be no christianity. I can't be the only one that sees that.

 101°, why we haven't died I don't quite understand. Apparently it's not our time. Sitting at a nice rest stop but no outside Outlets like the 120 miles back. And with all the smoke are charging is cut by 30%. Getting to Billings tomorrow would be nice because there's a better chance of getting the service we need on this failing wheel. It so happens there is a maintenance guy here, he stopped his truck, asked about the vehicle. Later I went in and commented how nice it would have been if this were like the rest stop 20 miles back with outside outlets. 20 minutes later he took the trouble to come over and say, sir, what was it you were looking to charge? I've got a hundred foot worth of extension cord, he said, between the sinks there's an electrical outlet. It might work out. It might enable us to get to Billings by mid-morning. But what it definitely has done is feed my soul. Almost no one acts with generosity and kindness. Throwing crumbs yes. Generosity and kindness, oh it's so rare. What a nice fellow. Aligned with creator.

Somewhere in the middle of... the operation a person approached from behind me, got my attention, I was sitting on the asphalt, and handed A Fistful of $20 bills. Bless your soul is all I could say.

Somewhat immediately I think he said he was a pastor.

Prompting me to calmly indicate that he really might not want to have made this donation. And I went on to explain. And we had probably a 10 minute Exchange because we both found that we wanted to.

Right at the onset I said My Religion begins and ends with the teachings instructions and example of the man Jesus before he died. And Bob was not unhappy to hear this. He even seemed to feel in sympathy.

We are so steeped in our Notions that it takes a while before things sink in. After a while he said, but of course you accept the gospel, that we are saved only by accepting Jesus sacrifice? Everything I had said was to the contrary but not saying those actual words and he finally got it when I replied certainly not in the affirmative.

Now he was not fully happy with what I was doing.

But we pursued the dialogue because he wanted to mostly probably to try and educate me but not entirely, he was curious.

In reply I mentioned, my take from Jesus teachings in the gospels is really very very very different. That it's all about what kind of being we choose for ourselves, his being as a child of creator, a citizen of the kingdom, or the being that almost all of us choose a slave to stuff. I mentioned the instructions Jesus gave that if one throws a banquet to invite only those that cannot repay because you will then be rewarded in the resurrection of the just.

And that Jesus said unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees you will not enter into the kingdom. He took offense at none of this but with my second comment he said, yes, but where does that righteousness come from, inferring that it could only come from God. And he went on to say, somewhat rhetorically, so if you were in front of creator at the final judgment what would you say? Implying that there was nothing I could say that would justify my entry into heaven, something about which I have absolutely no interest.

It's a question I hadn't thought of before so I paused, and I said, I would say, do with me what you will. I'm glad that thought came to me I'm glad I shared it and I think it surprised him and he might think about it. Because his conception is in front of Creator you beg or hope the Creator will send you to heaven after this life. Again, something I don't believe in or have any interest in.

I thought about the conversation later on and today and I still think about it. And I thought about his question to me and a better answer that more accurately describes what I would say is, one or both of two things: I hope you got some Joy from seeing my pitiful efforts to do your will, to follow the example, the leadership, of Jesus, because I certainly did. The other thing I might say is, thank you so much for the leadership and example and teachings and instructions of jesus. My life was filled with joy and otherwise would have been filled with the joyless walking death of selfishness that our culture, our Christian culture, raised me to prefer.

In a way that I think he took no offense to as he was walking away I said, are you sure you don't want this donation back? Keep it he said.

Cold, rainy, and dangerous day and Sol and I had literally just arrived and determined that there were outdoor plugs if they would let us use them. When the car with a couple came alongside as I was about to go inside and inquire and hopefully begin to get warm and dry out, I mentioned to them that I was wet cold and tired, and they didn't seem to care. But I'm glad for how it worked out.

For a variety of reasons including wind, but mostly a downward slope near electrical outlets if the manager approved I had just parked.

It was not an obvious location, shielded from most passers by, so they were really drawn to what they had seen.

It's hard to tell in even the longer encounters and this was quite brief, but this seemed to be a direct connection.

I shared for quite a while at their request, and it all boiled down to, Jesus told us how to live for the joyful life of it, no one before or since has, and pretty much everyone before and since has got it wrong. Emphasizing I did, I intend to offend no one, but Christianity is an opposite religion, it's a religion of getting a condo in a city in the sky with golden streets. And Jesus told us not to care what we ate or what we wore. Opposite religions.

This seemed to resonate with exactly what they thought.
